What You Learn From The Lord, Do!

Learning from the Lord

You have heard many sermons preached in church, on TV, on radio, and on the street. These sermons point to one man: Jesus Christ the Son of God. These sermons will have no impact in your life unless you do them. The preaching you have heard all your life are mere conversations if you do not put them to practice. It is in obeying the word of God that you experience the power that flows unceasingly from God himself.

JESUS WANTS YOU TO LEARN FROM HIM

When Jesus came into this world, He had a clear cut mandate, vision and purpose to seek, save the lost and destroy the works of the devil. Assuring the apostles of sending the Holy Spirit, Jesus also revealed to them that they would do the very works that He did, and even more what He did, they will do.

This suggests that the apostles who walked with Jesus might have received training from their Lord and Master. How can a person do the very works of Jesus if they do not know Him or have not been a student of the Greatest Teacher of all time?

When He called out to the burdened and heavy laden to come into everlasting rest, Jesus declared, ‘AND LEARN FROM ME’. If He doesn’t want you to emulate him, He wouldn’t have made that statement in Matthew 11:29

I remember a popular statement one of our teachers constantly made while in school – we don’t learn to forget. You must not forget what you learn from Jesus. There are experiences in life we hardly forget about. We go through certain events in life, and the moment we hear a particular song, get to some date in a year, or even see a particular dress, then we remember those past events in our lives. I have personally recalled some people and places the moment I smell a kind of perfume or scent somewhere. These thoughts are forever written in our minds. They are perpetually inscribed in our subconscious mind!

Even so, the things you learn from Jesus Christ must not be forgotten but you shall meditate on them day and night so that you will observe to do all of them – Joshua 1:8

BLESSING IN DOING WHAT YOU LEARN FROM HIM

The Lord is very particular about one thing and continued to trumpet that one thing over and over again. Do what you learn from Me. Do what you hear from Me. In His teachings, He undeniably said blessed is the one hears these sayings of Mine and does them. This statement was put forward in different ways by the Lord. However its substance was simple and the same – do what you learn from Me.

In Joshua 1:8, the Bible says, doing the things written in the laws will make you prosperous and give you good success.

In Matthew 7:24, it reads, Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.

Again in John 12: 47 – 48, Jesus said ‘and if anyone hears my words, and does not believe, I do not judge him: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.’

Sometimes, people think the Bible is just a reference material or the history of the Israelites just like any other history book. They got it all wrong! The Bible is man’s manual for success – God’s instruction to man for the good of man! Doing the things written in God’s word will bless you and make you a blessing to others. That which you learn from Jesus, you must do!

THE TRUTH ABOUT JESUS

That you don’t dream does not mean others do not dream. The fact that you don’t know something does not mean someone does not know it. If you do not believe in something, it does not mean it is not there. The truth cannot be hidden no matter how you try to run away from it or refuse to see it.

Let’s take another look at John 12:47 – 48

‘And if anyone hears my words, and does not believe, I do not judge him: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.’

You may not bother if you don’t dream when you sleep. However some people are truly bothered when they have no dream for a number of days. There might also be reasons why you hardly dream or don’t dream at all. If you find yourself in this situation, you can choose to do something about your dreams by seeking solution to the problem of not dreaming or ignore it.

The same applies to dealing with Jesus who is the Truth. It is also the same in finding answers to life’s biggest questions. You may try to search for the truth about something or simply choose to ignore it.

Looking at the statement Jesus made in John 12:47 – 48, it can be deduced that the truth does not fight or struggle to be known as the truth. Rather the end vindicates it and reveals it as thus.

Believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the saviour of mankind has become a debate and difficulty for some folks. They cannot figure the truth out. The fact that some people do not recognise, accept and believe in Jesus Christ does not, and cannot change who He is – He is the same yesterday, today, and will be forever. If these individual can spend time, open up their heart and search for the Lord, they will find Him.

And you shall seek me, and find me when you shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
